CVE-2026-77767: Reconmap Report Preview Endpoint Is Marked AllowAnonymous, Exposing Every Project and Client Organisation Without Authentication

Advisory generated from the CVE record, CISA, Exploit Observer and VEDAS: what it is, whether it is exploited, who is affected, and how to fix and detect it.

Generated by VEDAS. Scores as of 2026-11-01 19:19 UTC. Rebuilt every few hours from cve-scores, CISA KEV and vedas-signatures. How this works and its limits.

What it is

Reconmap’s API applies a fallback authorization policy in apps/api/app/Program.cs that requires an authenticated user holding the administrator role, so controllers without their own attribute reject anonymous callers. The report preview action in apps/api/app/Controllers/ReportsController.cs carries [AllowAnonymous] and therefore opts out of that policy. PreviewReport loads the Project row named by the id path segment, loads the linked Organisation through the project’s ClientId, and renders both into default-report-template.html, which prints the project name and description together with the client organisation’s name, address and URL. No authentication, project membership or role check is performed. Because the id is the auto-increment primary key of the project table, an unauthenticated remote caller can walk sequential ids to retrieve the engagement details and client organisation of every project on the instance, and the 404 returned for a missing id reveals which project ids exist. Reconmap stores penetration-testing engagements, so the disclosed descriptions and client records are sensitive by nature.

Weakness: Missing Authorization

How it can be exploited

Exploitable over the network with low attack complexity with no special attack requirements needing no privileges and no user interaction. Impact: confidentiality high, integrity none, availability none. CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N

CISA assessment (SSVC): CISA assesses that a public proof of concept exists. Automatable: yes. Technical impact: partial.

Reconmap - Unauthenticated Report Preview Broken Access Control

Reconmap’s API applies a fallback authorization policy requiring an authenticated administrator, but the report preview action PreviewReport in apps/api/src/Controllers/ReportsController.cs is decorated with [AllowAnonymous] and performs no authentication, project membership or role check. The action is routed at GET /api/reports/{id}/preview (controller route “api/[controller]”) and loads the Project row named by the auto-increment id, loads the linked client Organisation and renders both into default-report-template.html, disclosing the engagement name/description and client organisation name, address and URL. An unauthenticated remote caller can walk sequential ids to retrieve every project’s engagement details. This template requests the preview for project id 1 and confirms the vulnerability by matching the rendered penetration test report template; patched builds removed the preview action and return 404.

Name and description quoted from the template, written by VEDAS.

The template sends 1 request (GET /api/reports/1/preview); it decides using status, word matchers. Severity in the template: high. Marked as not yet verified against a live vulnerable target.

Run it against a host you own or are authorised to test:
